Hands out for Community Businesses
Seneca Falls Rotary donated a much needed product to area businesses for the Hand Sanitizer Giveaway on Saturday, June 6th. Local Rotarians assembled to distribute the fifty-five 1-gallon containers to area businesses with an efficient drive-through set up with respect to social distancing guidelines.
Sourced through the Stone Soup Project, local distillers produce hand sanitizer distilled to WHO standards using excess wine from Finger Lakes Wineries. Over 20,000 gallons of sanitizer can be distilled by eleven distillers in the Finger Lakes, making available thousands of gallons weekly. Some of the participating wineries are Fox Run Vineyards, Hazlitt 1852 Vineyard, Swedish Hill Vineyard and Winery. The distilleries are Rootstock Ciderworks, Uncharted Spirits, and O’Begley Distillers.
Rotary District 7120 brought this idea to local clubs in April. Each club can purchase a maximum 55 gallons of Hand Sanitizer and donate or sell for a nominal fee to local businesses that are re opening. Seneca Falls Rotary donated the total amount purchased for this project.
